Travel itinerary template

A blank template tells you what a day should look like. It does not tell you which museum to pair with which lunch, or which two neighbourhoods sit close enough to do in one afternoon. Here is the structure worth copying — and a way to have it filled in for you.

What a travel itinerary template should actually contain

A useful itinerary is more than a list of places. For each day it needs a rough shape — morning, afternoon, evening — with two or three anchor activities rather than ten, travel time between them, at least one meal suggestion near where you already are, and a note of anything that has to be booked in advance. Everything else is padding.

The classic blank template gives you the grid but leaves the hard part to you: deciding what belongs on which day, and in what order, so you are not crossing the city twice before lunch. That is the part Travvio does for you.

The structure Travvio uses

Every generated plan follows the same readable structure. Day one starts light because arrival days rarely go to plan. Each day is grouped geographically, so the activities on a given day sit in one or two adjacent neighbourhoods. Timings are suggested rather than rigid, and each day comes with a map so you can see the shape of it at a glance.

Hotels are suggested separately and, where you have brand or loyalty preferences saved, those come first. Nothing is booked for you — the plan is yours to take to whichever booking site you prefer.

Fill it in yourself, or have it filled in for you

If you like planning, use the structure above as a template and populate it by hand. If you would rather skip to the editing stage, answer a short set of questions and Travvio generates the whole thing — populated, ordered and mapped — in under a minute. Editing afterwards is free, so most people generate first and then adjust a couple of days around flights and reservations.

Because the plan is built from your saved travel profile rather than a generic template, two people asking for the same week in the same city get different itineraries: one leaning towards galleries and long lunches, the other towards markets, walking routes and late nights.

Sharing the plan with the people you are travelling with

Any itinerary can be emailed as a formatted, day-by-day plan, which is usually the fastest way to get everyone on the same page — no app to install, no account needed on their side. Trips are saved to your account too, so you can reopen and re-use an old plan the next time you visit the same place.

Travel itinerary template questions

Is there a free travel itinerary template?

Yes — the structure described on this page is free to copy: a day-by-day grid with morning, afternoon and evening blocks, two or three anchor activities per day, travel time between them, and a booking-required column. Travvio can also generate a fully populated version for you, and new accounts start with free credits.

How many activities should I plan per day?

Two or three anchors per day is the sweet spot for most trips. More than that and the day becomes a schedule to survive rather than a trip to enjoy, especially in cities where getting between neighbourhoods eats an hour at a time.

Can I edit a generated itinerary like a template?

Yes. Every day, activity and note can be edited, reordered or removed after generation, and edits do not cost a credit.
